The Izumo is designated as a multi-purpose carrier, and its potential uses include operating the F-35B. This model depicts the Izumo with a ski-jump deck installed to facilitate F-35B takeoffs.

The model can be built as either a full-hull or waterline version. It includes four F-35B aircraft, along with two each of the MCH-101, SH-60K, and MV-22.
