The AH-64D Apache Longbow is an advanced, all-weather attack helicopter. It's a developed and radar-equipped version of the AH-64A Apache, which was originally adopted and developed as part of the U.S. Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter (AAH) program.

Initially, the radar-equipped version was called the AH-64D Apache Longbow, and the version without radar was designated the AH-64C. However, the AH-64C designation was discontinued at the end of 1993, and since then, all versions, regardless of whether they are equipped with radar or not, have been referred to as the AH-64D Apache Longbow.

The most distinctive feature of its sensor suite is the Fire Control Radar (FCR), also known as the Longbow radar, which is mounted on top of the main rotor mast. This radar can detect and identify targets, automatically select attack priorities, and, through its integrated system management, provides a new generation of attack helicopters with superior control capabilities during combat.
