La voiture de tourisme tout-terrain à trois essieux G4 (W31) a été conçue par Daimler-Benz en 1934. Cette voiture avait un moteur 8 cylindres de 100 (plus tard 110) ch et 6 sièges passagers. La voiture était destinée à l'armée allemande mais elle semblait très coûteuse et trop compliquée pour une production en série. Jusqu'en 1939, seulement 72 voitures G4 ont été produites. Elles étaient principalement utilisées par les plus hautes autorités étatiques et militaires d'Allemagne.
