L'ACS-64, également connue sous le nom d'« Amtrak Cities Sprinter », remplace par Amtrak les locomotives électriques vieillissantes AEM-7 et HHP-8 pour fonctionner dans les corridors nord-est et Keystone. Construit par Siemens et basé sur la conception de la locomotive électrique européenne EuroSprinter, le Cities Sprinter n'en reste pas moins un modèle unique en Amérique du Nord et est entièrement construit aux États-Unis. Le prototype, entré en service en février 2014, est destiné à tirer jusqu'à 18 voitures Amfleet à des vitesses allant jusqu'à 125 miles par heure !

La nouvelle locomotive Cities Sprinter sera livrée avec un tout nouveau wagon, prototype approprié pour le fonctionnement de l'ACS-64 !
