The U.S.S. Indianapolis CA-35 was used by the U.S. Navy in the Pacific War and it dropped the first operational atomic bomb. Torpedoed and sunk July 30, 1945, there were just 317 survivors from a crew of 1,196.
Clearly, Academy has done its homework for this ALL NEW TOOLING kit. It bristles with armament, including 8" main guns, 5" guns, a quad 40 mm and twin 20 mm cannons. It features a scale SC-1 Seahawk search plane, life rafts and floater nets, search light, carefully reproduced radars, aircraft steam catapult, nicely defined superstructure, propellers and countless other skillfully crafted details.
