Russian army was accustomed to fight during winter for a long time. During the Great Patriotic war it was prepared to cold weather. Russian greatcoat was thicker than German and better protected the wearer from cold. The ushanka hat could be worn under the Ssh-40 helmet. Basic unit of Soviet infantry was detachment consisting of 11 men. Soviet infantry was armed mostly with 7,62mm Mosin rifles.
