      The F-14A Tomcat has been deployed and operated as the main fighter of the US Navy fighter squadron since 1973. Adopting an automatically controlled variable swept wing and demonstrates high STOL performance, excellent speed and great maneuverability. In addition, it is equipped with AWG-9 fire control radar that can track 24 targets simultaneously and attack six of them simultaneously, and AIM-54 Phoenix long-range air-to-air missile. VF-21 Freelancers received F-14 in 1984. From 1991 to 1995, the F-14 operated as a combat squadron based at Atsugi Base, supporting the aircraft carrier Independence and becoming well-known in Japan.
