On November 28, 1922, HMS Rodney started the Cammel-Laird shipyard in Birkenhead, launching on November 7, 1925, and named after the 18th and 19th century British naval star Rodney; on November 10, 1927, HMS Rodney completed the 10th HMS Rodney.

During World War II, HMS Rodney and its sister ship HMS Nelson, better known as HMS Rodney and HMS Nelson, joined the Norwegian campaign and rounded up the German pocket battleship DKM Sher in April 1940 near Bergen, Norway, by German bombers and wounded. On May 27, 1941, HMS Rodney took part in the action to surround and annihilate the German battleship DKM Bismarck. Battle, Rodney has lost the ability to effectively fight back the Bismarck, which fired over 380 rounds of 16-inch shells.

Soon, HMS Rodney was sent to the Mediterranean as a convoy escort mission to Malta, together with HMS Nelson escorting combat. The end of 1942 to 1944 saw HMS Nelson No. join the landing in North Africa, Sicily, and support the Allied landing in Italian territory. HMS Rodney 1944, the unprecedented scale of the Normandy landings, is one of the six battleships spent.

After the war, in 1945, HMS Rodney was sold and transferred to reserve in March 1948.
