 General information

What do you do with our personal information?

A. MPM Hobbies doesn't sell, give away or handle it any way outside of official business. We are hosted by Shopify and can not attest to what they do with the information so I can only speak for MPM Hobbies. We do not have access to credit card information and the only ones with access to Shopify to see your name, address, email or phone number (if provided) is myself, wife and oldest daughter.

How long have you been selling?

A. August of 2021.

How many employees do you have?

A. 4 Family and various neighborhood kids.

Why is MPM Hobbies located on your residential property?

A.  I am disabled and unable to manage a business outside of the house.

How can you run the business from the home?

A.  We live in Florida where home-based businesses are recognized as legitimate business entities.  Our property is big enough to have large sheds placed upon it in addition to house space.  

Where are your policies located?

A.  At the bottom of our website pages in the "footer" section.

Contacting MPM Hobbies

How do I contact MPM Hobbies?

A. Go to the Contact Us page for the information you need to reach us.

I call but why sometimes doesn't anyone answer? 

A. We screen calls and will not answer if the number is not provided or the call is marked as a scam. We also use our phones for personal use.  Outside of that, my wife works fulltime as a schoolteacher and I can’t hear the thing ring half the time if I am on the tractor (we have a small farm). However, please just leave a message and we will call you back. 

Why did you list a residential address?

A. We run the business on our property with plans to one day afford something commercial. We are strictly online so please no visitors.

Orders

Can I order without going through your website?

A. You can call my wife Pat at (904) 507-3327 and she can do it for you.

My payment will not go through so what can I do?

A. Contact your card company or bank. MPM Hobbies will not take orders outside of website or stores.

Can I combine orders and shipping?

A. Yes, as long as the none of the orders have not shipped. Inform us, via email orders@mpmhobbies.com (please provide order numbers and details of your request) or call Pat at (904) 507-3327, of your wish to combine orders. 

I forgot to include or remove something on my order. What can I do?

A.  If the order has not shipped, then either create a new order and ask that we combine (see "Can I combine orders and shipping?" question above).

Do you dropship?

A. Items are purchased through our reputable hobby wholesale distributors/suppliers and all orders are shipped directly from MPM Hobbies.

Discount Codes

Why isn't my discount code working?

A.  Due to amount of fraudulent discount codes being distributed, we only honor the ones generated via this website.  If your code doesn't work it most likely is fraudulent.

Why would someone distribute fraudulent discount codes?

A.  Attract web traffic, boredom, malice, obtain your personal information, criminal activity, bad childhood etc..  People do it for any reason that suits their fancy.  

Cancel Fees

Why do you charge cancellation fees?

A.  Bad apples spoil it for the whole bunch.  We are small and cannot afford to keep absorbing costs like the bigger companies.  Ordering 50 or more items then cancelling after prepped and shipping purchased, filing chargebacks in less than a week after purchase when you could just call us or email to cancel, letting us check on your backorders for weeks even months in some cases only to cancel after you receive a shipping notification or just refusing the item for really no reason other than changing your mind. These things add up in both manpower and financial waste.  We can either eliminate fees and just raise our prices or keep prices low and only apply fees to certain customer situations.  For information about our fees please read our "Purchase Options and Cancellations" and "Refunds, Returns or Exchanges"

Why do you charge cancellation fees on Pre-Orders, Lay-Buy and some Backorders when the items aren't even available from the distributor yet?

A.  These items require a great deal of attention and special computer programs to run the program.  Distributor stock availability is checked manually, and the programs cost money and requires upkeep. This racks up time in manpower and costs.  We can either eliminate fees and just raise our prices or keep prices low and only apply fees to certain customer situations.  For information about our fees please read our "Purchase Options and Cancellations" and "Refunds, Returns or Exchanges"

Random Questions

Do you sell real weapons and/or explosives?

A. NO, next question.

Do you build models?

A. Yes, have been since I was a kid. I know a thing or two but still learning. Seems like there is new stuff daily. Wish more kids would get involved. Haven't had time to build anything lately and that's a bummer.

What hobby subjects do you have experience with?

A. Model planes, RC planes, model ships, model armor, slot cars, racetracks, trains HO and N, layouts N, RC armor, RC racing, RC off-road, pine wood derby, etc.. also worked at a hobby shop while in college. Love it all but favorite is model planes.

What working experience do you have in hobbies?

A.  I worked in hobby retail while I was in college and some of the people I worked with were real Aholes towards customers.  Arrogancy, rudeness and disregard for those less experienced in the subject.  I personally do not care how experienced you are, how well you build or your reputation.  All hobbyists to me are equal and I value all whether just starting out or have decades of experience.  To me it is a cardinal sin to turn someone off of a hobby (of course common sense and decency applies).
