Zara heavy cruiser on July 4, 1929, in the the Otto Group La Spezia shipyard started, launched on April 27, 1930, to be completed by October 20, 1931.
After the completion of the "Zara", it was incorporated into the first clan cruiser detachments. Thereafter, until 1940, when Italy entered the war, the ship was in the squad.
