About the Bell UH-1Y Venom

The Bell UH-1Y Venom is the latest member of the legendary Huey family, serving as the U.S. Marine Corps' primary utility helicopter. Part of the H-1 upgrade program, the UH-1Y represents a complete modernization of the UH-1N Twin Huey, featuring 84% new components including a four-blade composite rotor system, upgraded General Electric T700-GE-401C engines, and fully integrated glass cockpit. Entering service in 2008, the Venom provides the Marines with enhanced lift capability, improved speed and range, and superior survivability compared to earlier Hueys. The UH-1Y is equipped with advanced defensive systems and can carry a variety of weapons including GAU-16 .50 caliber machine guns, GAU-17/A 7.62mm miniguns, and LAU-68 rocket launchers.
