General information

What do you do with our personal information?

A. MPM Hobbies doesn't sell, give away or handle it any way outside of official business. We are hosted by Shopify and can not attest to what they do with the information so I can only speak for MPM Hobbies. We do not have access to credit card information and the only ones with access to Shopify to see your name, address, email or phone number (if provided) is myself, wife and oldest daughter.

How long have you been selling?

A. August of 2021.

How many employees do you have?

A. 4 Family and various neighborhood kids.

Why is MPM Hobbies located on your residential property?

A.  I am disabled and unable to manage a business outside of the house.  That and crime issues such as not wanting my family to be robbed or hurt.  Visitors to my residential property are highly discouraged.

How can you run the business from the home?

A.  We live in Florida where home-based businesses are recognized as legitimate business entities.  Our property is big enough to have large sheds placed upon it in addition to house space.

How do I contact MPM Hobbies?

A. Go to the Contact Us page for the information you need to reach us.

I call but why sometimes doesn't anyone answer? 

A. We screen calls and will not answer if the number is not provided or the call is marked as a scam or spam. However, please just leave a message and we will call you back. 

Why did you list a residential address?

A. We run the business on our property with plans to one day afford something commercial. We are strictly online so please no visitors.

Orders

Can I order without going through your website?

A. You can call my wife Pat at 1-(904) 885-0559 and she can do it for you.

My payment will not go through so what can I do?

A. Contact your card company or bank. MPM Hobbies will not take orders outside of website or stores.

Can I combine orders and shipping?

A. Yes, as long as the none of the orders have not shipped. Inform us, via email orders@mpmhobbies.com (please provide order numbers and details of your request) or call Pat at 1-(904) 885-0559, of your wish to combine orders. 

I forgot to include or remove something on my order. What can I do?

A.  If the order has not shipped, then either create a new order and ask that we combine (see "Can I combine orders and shipping?" question above).

Do you dropship?

A. Items are purchased through our reputable hobby wholesale distributors/suppliers and are shipped directly from MPM Hobbies unless a prior arrangement has been made with the customer.  

Why don't MPM Hobbies take back products that are consumables or rendered unsellable as new in box? 

A.  Encountering such things as removing part(s) to use and returning the rest, using paint or glues then returning and various other scams we had to crack down on.     

Discount Codes

Why isn't my discount code working?

A.  Due to amount of fraudulent discount codes being distributed, we only honor the ones generated via this website.  If your code doesn't work it most likely is fraudulent.

Why would someone distribute fraudulent discount codes?

A.  Attract web traffic, boredom, malice, obtain your personal information, criminal activity, bad childhood etc..  People do it for any reason that suits their fancy.  

Cancel Fees

Why do you charge cancellation fees?

A.  Bad apples spoil it for the whole bunch.  We are small and cannot afford to keep absorbing costs like the bigger companies.  Ordering 50 or more items then cancelling after prepped and shipping purchased, filing chargebacks in less than a week after purchase when you could just call us or email to cancel, letting us check on your backorders for weeks even months in some cases only to cancel after you receive a shipping notification or just refusing the item for really no reason other than changing your mind. These things add up in both manpower and financial waste.  We can either eliminate fees and just raise our prices or keep prices low and only apply fees to certain customer situations.  For information about our fees please read our "Purchase Options and Cancellations" and "Refunds, Returns or Exchanges"

Why do you charge cancellation fees on Pre-Orders, Lay-Buy and some Backorders when the items aren't even available from the distributor yet?

A.  These items require a great deal of attention and special computer programs to run the program.  Distributor stock availability is checked manually, and the programs cost money and requires upkeep. This racks up time in manpower and costs.  We can either eliminate fees and just raise our prices or keep prices low and only apply fees to certain customer situations.  For information about our fees please read our "Purchase Options and Cancellations" and "Refunds, Returns or Exchanges"

Random Questions

Do you sell real weapons and/or explosives?

A. NO, next question.

Do you build models?

A. Yes, have been since I was a kid. I know a thing or two but still learning. Seems like there is new stuff daily. Wish more kids would get involved. Haven't had time to build anything lately and that's a bummer.

What hobby subjects do you have experience with?

A. Model planes, RC planes, model ships, model armor, slot cars, racetracks, trains HO and N, layouts N, RC armor, RC racing, RC off-road, pine wood derby, etc.. also worked at a hobby shop while in college. Love it all but favorite is model planes.

What working experience do you have in hobbies?

A.  I worked in hobby retail while I was in college and some of the people I worked with were real Aholes towards customers.  Arrogancy, rudeness and disregard for those less experienced in the subject.  I personally do not care how experienced you are, how well you build or your reputation.  All hobbyists to me are equal and I value all whether just starting out or have decades of experience.  To me it is a cardinal sin to turn someone off of a hobby (of course common sense and decency applies). If you need help or advice with your hobby or just want to pick my brain, just call me 1-(904) 885-0559.  I do not know everything, but I will find an answer for you.  Just to make sure I do not get weird phone calls; I will only discuss the subject matter based on the products we sell.  

Bad Reviews

Why did you stop responding to bad reviews?

A.  It started becoming futile at best.  I am not arguing anymore with people who simply do not read or are unreasonable.  ALL businesses have policies and ours are one of the easiest to find and straightforward.  We will however address your concerns and issues to the best of our ability and have always been fair to the customer, but we will not bend on issues when we are in the right and are threatened with a bad review or chargeback.  Customer isn't always right but when they are we will bend over backwards to rectify the situation. 

Have you ever refused a refund? 

A.  Yes, we have.  In cases of fraud or when the customer refuses to send back the original item.  Our policies are clear on refunds, and we have policies for a reason, but I can state without hesitation that we have NEVER refused a refund that is legitimate, fair or because of an error on our part. 

Is MPM Hobbies a fee trap?

A.  Actually, we are not and our fee policies are very straightforward and fair.  We do not charge a fee if you cancel within three days of purchase, when we are in error, after 30 days when the order does not consist of backorders (we frequently check on these to see if the products become available again) etc..  

Is MPM Hobbies a scam?

A.  NO, we are not.  We do not steal, commit fraud or try to "trick" you.  Simply put there is nothing about our business worth us going to jail over.  Besides most scam artists do not use their home address.

So, what do you tell customers who are being unreasonable or wrong and threaten to write a bad review or ruin our business?   

 A.  Go ahead, I do not bend to threats.  However, if you are reasonable, right or have extenuating circumstances we will make it right as best we can.  Also, telling us to send you free stuff, ask for a full refund but keep the product, sending back a totally different product than what you ordered etc... or you'll write a bad review definitely will get you nowhere with us.
