About the K21 Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The K21 is South Korea's next-generation infantry fighting vehicle, developed domestically by Doosan DST and entering service with the R.O.K. Army in 2009. Designed to replace the aging K200 series APCs, the K21 represents a significant leap in Korean armored vehicle technology. The vehicle features composite armor protection, a two-man turret armed with a 40mm automatic cannon and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, and can carry up to nine infantry soldiers. Powered by a Doosan DV27K diesel engine producing 750 horsepower, the K21 can reach speeds of 70 km/h on roads and features amphibious capability with water jet propulsion. The IFV incorporates advanced fire control systems, thermal imaging, and can be equipped with anti-tank guided missiles.
