The Thunderbirds are the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron and have been entertaining people for over 65 years. The squadron was formed in 1953 using the straight-wing F-84 Thunderjet. Then they transitioned to the swept-wing F-84F because it had excellent cruising characteristics and predictable handling. In addition to the Thunderbirds, the F-84F was sold to many countries around the world. It even saw service during the Cold War.
