1/48 Hobby Boss TBF-1C Avenger 80314

The Hobby Boss 80314 is a 1/48 scale plastic model kit of the Grumman TBF-1C Avenger, the US Navy's three-seat torpedo bomber of World War II. It is an unassembled kit that requires assembly, and it suits intermediate and experienced modelers building a WWII naval aviation collection.

About the Aircraft

First flown on 1 August 1941, the Avenger entered US Navy service in time for the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The design changed very little through the war, which allowed it to be produced in large numbers, with General Motors building it as the TBM-1 from September 1942. Over 1,000 TBF/TBM airframes served with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm as the Avenger Mk I, and the type was also flown by the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The later TBM-3 added strengthened wings for rockets and radar pods.
