Historical Background
The BV 246 was designed by Dr. Richard Vogt and initially designated BV 226 before being redesignated on 12 December 1943. Carried externally under the bomber, it was released from approximately 10,000 meters altitude, keeping the carrier aircraft safely out of anti-aircraft range. Several guidance systems were tested, including the "Radieschen" radar-guidance system, making it one of the earliest anti-radar missiles. Approximately 1,100 were produced before the project was cancelled.
