About HMS Hood - The Mighty Hood

HMS Hood was a Royal Navy battlecruiser and one of the most famous warships in British naval history. Launched in 1918 and commissioned in 1920, Hood was the largest warship in the world for two decades and served as a symbol of British naval power throughout the interwar period. The ship's 1941 configuration featured enhanced anti-aircraft armament and updated fire control systems. On May 24, 1941, Hood engaged the German battleship Bismarck in the Battle of the Denmark Strait, where a catastrophic magazine explosion caused the ship to sink in less than three minutes with the loss of all but three of her 1,418-man crew.

What's Included in This Set

  • Photo-etched brass railings for all deck levels and superstructure platforms
  • Detailed ladder assemblies with authentic scale rungs
  • Aircraft catapult detail parts and launch rails
