About the P-51D-5 Mustang

The P-51D-5 Mustang represents an early production block of the iconic "bubble canopy" Mustang variant. These aircraft featured the revolutionary Malcolm hood-style canopy providing exceptional visibility, paired with the powerful Packard V-1650 Merlin engine. Early D-model Mustangs like the -5 variant initially lacked the dorsal fin that would become standard on later production blocks, making them visually distinctive.
