Squadron Signal M26 Dragon Wagon Walk Around - Comprehensive Photo Reference
Explore the legendary M26 Dragon Wagon, the largest wheeled vehicle fielded by the US Army during World War II, through this extensively illustrated walk-around reference from Squadron Signal Publications. Authored by renowned military vehicle historian David Doyle, this 80-page volume provides unparalleled photographic coverage of the 40-ton Tank Transporter Truck Trailer M25 system.
About the M26 Dragon Wagon
The M25 tank transporter system consisted of the M26 tractor and M15 trailer, designed to recover disabled tanks and heavy vehicles from forward areas. Early production M26 tractors featured large, heavily armored cabs for battlefield recovery operations. However, field experience revealed these vehicles were rarely used during active combat, leading to the introduction of the M26A1 with a soft-skin cab. As American tanks grew larger and heavier, the trailer evolved through M15A1 and M15A2 variants, serving through the Vietnam War into the 1970s.
