About the Penydarren Locomotive

On February 21, 1804, Richard Trevithick's Penydarren locomotive made history by successfully hauling 10 tons of iron and 70 passengers along a 9-mile tramway in Wales. This groundbreaking achievement proved that steam-powered rail transport was viable, paving the way for the railway networks that would transform the world.
