Launched in 1999, the Amtrak® Acela® made history as the first high-speed train service in North America, running between Washington D.C., New York City, and Boston at speeds upwards of 150MPH. Today, the Acela® service continues to push the envelope for speed and modernity in the Northeast with the introduction of a new generation of hi-tech trains from Alstom. Featuring the latest high-speed technology, the Acela® II provides a substantial increase in both the speed and capacity on this popular intercity route.
