Historical Background:

Entering service with the British Army in 1976, the 105mm Light Field Gun was designed to deliver greater range and lethality than its predecessor while maintaining portability for rapid deployment. This light yet robust modern field gun proved flexible enough for troops fighting in the most inhospitable terrain and could be towed by Army Land Rovers or carried as an underslung load beneath larger British helicopter types. Though designed for portability, it remained a substantial weapon system. Produced in large numbers and exported widely, these guns served with distinction during the Falklands War of 1982, providing crucial fire support for British forces.
