Historical Background:

The T-34-85 was an upgraded version of the legendary T-34 medium tank, developed in response to the appearance of German Tiger and Panther tanks on the Eastern Front. The most significant improvement was the installation of a larger three-man turret mounting the powerful 85MM ZiS-S-53 gun, which could effectively engage German heavy tanks at combat ranges. The 112 Factory Production variant featured a distinctive cast turret produced at Factory No. 112 in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). The T-34-85 retained the T-34's excellent sloped armor design, which provided superior protection compared to vertical armor of equivalent thickness, and the reliable Christie suspension system that gave it exceptional cross-country mobility.
