Historical Background:

The Tiger I was one of the most feared tanks of World War II, combining thick armor, powerful armament, and excellent optics to create a formidable fighting machine. The late production version featured several improvements over earlier variants, including steel road wheels to replace the earlier rubber-rimmed versions due to material shortages, and the application of Zimmerit anti-magnetic paste coating to protect against magnetic anti-tank mines. The Tiger I's 88MM KwK 36 L/56 gun could penetrate the armor of any Allied tank at ranges exceeding 1,500 meters, while its thick frontal armor of up to 100MM made it nearly impervious to most Allied anti-tank weapons. Despite its fearsome reputation and combat effectiveness, the Tiger I was expensive to produce and mechanically complex, with only 1,347 built between 1942 and 1944. Late production Tigers saw action on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, where they continued to inflict heavy casualties on Allied armor until the end of the war.
