Built by Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Forrest Sherman was launched on October 2, 2004. Admiral Sherman's daughter, Ann Sherman Fitzpatrick, is the ship's sponsor.
