About the Supermarine Walrus:

The Supermarine Walrus was a British single-engine amphibious biplane reconnaissance aircraft designed by R.J. Mitchell, the same designer who created the legendary Spitfire. First flown in 1933, the Walrus served primarily as a fleet spotter and air-sea rescue aircraft with the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm during World War II. Its amphibious capability allowed it to land on water to rescue downed aircrews, earning it the affectionate nickname "Shagbat." The pusher propeller configuration kept the engine clear of sea spray, and its rugged construction made it ideal for maritime operations in harsh conditions.
