1/72 ACE Models IDF Shot Meteor Mk.3/5 Israeli Centurion Tank

The ACE Models 1/72 scale IDF Shot Meteor Mk.3/5 is a highly detailed plastic model kit of the Israeli Defense Forces' modified British Centurion tank, designated "Shot" (Scourge) in IDF service. This early variant represents the Mk.3 and Mk.5 Centurions acquired by Israel in the late 1950s and early 1960s, still equipped with the original Rolls-Royce Meteor engine before later upgrades. These tanks formed the backbone of Israeli armored forces during the Six-Day War and played crucial roles in Israel's armored victories.

Key Features:

  • Authentic 1/72 Scale: Perfect for Arab-Israeli Wars and IDF armor dioramas
  • Detailed Molding: Crisp panel lines, accurate turret details, and realistic suspension
  • Meteor Engine Variant: Represents early IDF Centurions with original British powerplant
  • 105mm Main Gun: British L7 105mm gun that became the NATO standard

About the IDF Shot Meteor:

The Centurion tank became one of the most important weapons in the Israeli Defense Forces arsenal, serving with distinction from the late 1950s through the 1980s. Israel designated the Centurion as "Shot" (Hebrew for Scourge or Whip), and the early Mk.3 and Mk.5 variants retained the original Rolls-Royce Meteor engine that powered British Centurions. These tanks were acquired from Britain and other sources, with Israel eventually operating over 1,100 Centurions in various configurations. The Shot Meteor saw its baptism of fire during the Six-Day War in 1967, where Israeli armor achieved stunning victories against Arab forces. The Centurion's combination of the powerful 105mm L7 gun, heavy armor protection, and excellent crew ergonomics made it ideally suited to Israeli armored doctrine. The Shot Meteor variants served primarily in the 1960s before being upgraded with Continental diesel engines to become the Shot Kal series. These early Shots established the Centurion's legendary reputation in IDF service and proved that well-trained crews in capable tanks could overcome numerical superiority.
