The Circuitron Electronics AS-1 is a solid-state automatic slowdown circuit for model railroaders building HO or N scale layouts. It provides adjustable, fixed-step speed reduction for station approaches or downhill sections.
Technical details
-
Product: Single AS-1 automatic slowdown circuit.
-
Material: Solid-state electronic circuitry on a circuit board.
-
Scale: HO and N scale model train layouts.
-
Compatibility: AC or DC track power. The circuit connects in series with one track lead and is not for Command Control.
-
Load capacity: Heat sinking supports loads up to 2 amps.
-
Adjustment range: Output is continuously variable from 0 up to within 3 volts of the input voltage.
-
Board size: 2 x 3 inches.
How it works
The AS-1 provides a consistent fixed step of speed reduction, making it useful for automatic station stops and downhill speed control. Unlike a momentum system, it does not create a gradual slowing effect. Flywheels in many locomotives can reduce the abruptness of the speed change.
