Heller 1/100 Le Soleil Royal Starter Kit
Build a magnificent replica of the legendary French warship with this comprehensive starter kit. The Soleil Royal (Royal Sun) was a spectacular tri-decker of the French fleet under Louis XIV, launched in 1670. This first-rate ship of the line became famous under Admiral Tourville, who flew his flag during the victory of Béveziers on July 10, 1690, and at the battle of Barfleur on May 29, 1692.
Historical Significance
The original Soleil Royal was built at Brest in 1669 from plans by L. Hubac with an initial tonnage of 2,000 tons and designed to carry 104 cannon. The ornate sculptures adorning the ship are attributed to the renowned sculptor Coysevox. This model represents one of the most beautifully decorated warships of the 17th century.
