American Flyer Train Billboard

American Flyer is best remembered for the S gauge trains of the 1950's that it made as a division of the A. C. Gilbert Company. In May 1967, Lionel Corporation purchased American Flyer. Lionel's investment in new tooling has been interpreted as a sign of commitment by the manufacturer to their market segment, as well as the brand, the gauge, and the hobby in itself.
