1/32 Scale Weapons Racks, Launchers and Pylons
Mounting hardware is the detail that decides whether a loadout looks right. Racks, launchers, and pylons set the spacing, angle, and stance of every store an aircraft carries, and at 1/32 scale their beams, hooks, and connectors are fully visible. MPM Hobbies designs and 3D prints this category in resin, which reproduces the fine mechanical detail that moulded pylons usually smooth over.
Why Carriage Hardware Matters
Multiple-store racks let a single pylon station carry several weapons, which is why heavily loaded strike aircraft look the way they do. Getting the rack right fixes the spacing and clearance of everything hanging from it. Building the hardware first, then adding stores, is the most reliable route to a convincing loadout.
Matching Hardware to the Airframe
Pylon shapes and rack types are specific to airframe families and service periods, so a quick reference check saves rework. Note which stations were wet, which carried rails rather than racks, and how many stores each station typically held. Photographs of the exact aircraft and era you are modelling remain the best guide.
Assembly and Finishing
Wash and prime resin parts, then test-fit each rack to its pylon before any glue goes on. Paint racks and pylons separately from the stores so you can weather them independently, since carriage hardware collects scuffs, chipping, and hydraulic staining faster than the weapons themselves. Add sway braces and connectors last to avoid knocking them loose during handling.
