About the Fokker E.II Eindecker:

Significant in the history of aerial warfare, the Fokker Eindecker was the first purpose-built First World War German fighter aircraft and the first to be fitted with gun synchronization gear. This gear allowed the pilot to shoot through the arc of the propeller and in his line of sight. Once introduced, it took a withering toll on Allied aircraft during the period known as the "Fokker Scourge" from mid-1915 to early 1916. The E.II variant featured a more powerful engine than the E.I and became one of the most feared aircraft in the skies.
