About the Sd.Kfz.252:

The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 252 was developed in 1940 as a specialized ammunition carrier based on the Sd.Kfz.250 light armored halftrack. Recognizing the vulnerability of unarmored supply vehicles in combat zones, the Wehrmacht created this armored variant to safely deliver ammunition to artillery batteries, mortar teams, and infantry units under fire. The Sd.Kfz.252 featured reinforced armor protection, specialized storage racks for various ammunition types, and the same reliable Maybach engine and halftrack drivetrain as the standard Sd.Kfz.250. These vehicles served primarily with artillery and heavy weapons units, ensuring a steady supply of ammunition even in contested areas. Production was limited compared to other halftrack variants, making surviving examples and detailed models particularly valued by military vehicle enthusiasts.
