Tamiya XF-9 Hull Red is a 23ml water-based acrylic paint with a flat finish, suited to scale modelers painting ship hulls, armor and other subjects by brush or airbrush.

  • Works on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood and common model plastics
  • Covers well, flows smoothly and blends easily
  • Before curing, paint can be washed away with plain water

Thinning and Application

Airbrushing

  • Thin with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic Thinner (items 81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077)
  • Tamiya Lacquer Thinner gives faster drying and a harder finish

Brush Painting

  • Tamiya Paint Retarder (item 87114) helps produce a smoother, brushstroke-free finish
  • Tamiya X-21 Flat Base (items 81021, 81521) can flatten gloss X colors at a 1:1 ratio
