Why Choose AMMO Varnishes?
Created by renowned modeler Mig Jimenez, these varnishes are specifically formulated for scale modeling with superior adhesion, excellent leveling properties, and long-lasting protection. The Lucky Varnish range features acrylic-based formulas that dry quickly, resist yellowing, and provide flexible protective coatings that won't crack or peel. All varnishes are compatible with acrylic, enamel, and lacquer paints, making them versatile solutions for any modeling project.
Essential Protection and Finishing
Varnishes serve multiple critical functions in scale modeling including sealing painted surfaces from handling damage, protecting decals from silvering and peeling, unifying different paint finishes into cohesive appearances, providing UV protection to prevent color fading, and creating the proper base for weathering products. The choice between matt, satin, and gloss finishes allows you to match the authentic appearance of real vehicles, aircraft, and equipment.
Versatile Applications for All Modeling Projects
AMMO varnishes work beautifully across all modeling subjects including military armor with authentic matte finishes, aircraft with glossy canopies and satin fuselages, automotive models requiring high-gloss paint finishes, naval vessels with varied surface sheens, figures and miniatures needing protective coatings, gaming models requiring durable tabletop finishes, and dioramas with realistic surface variations. The range of finishes ensures you can achieve historically accurate and visually stunning results.

Varnish Application Tips for Best Results
For Lucky Varnish bottles, shake thoroughly before use and apply with a soft brush in thin, even coats, or thin slightly for airbrushing at 15-20 PSI. For Titans Hobby aerosol varnish, shake vigorously for two minutes and spray in light, sweeping passes from 8-12 inches away. Always apply varnish over fully cured paint (24-48 hours after painting) in a dust-free environment. Multiple thin coats provide better results than one heavy application and prevent pooling or frosting. Matt varnishes may appear slightly glossy when wet but will dry to a flat finish. Allow varnish to cure completely (24 hours minimum) before handling or applying weathering products. Work in well-ventilated areas and maintain room temperature for optimal flow and leveling.
