About the Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär

The Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär was developed in 1943 to provide German infantry with direct fire support against fortified positions. Built on the reliable Panzer IV chassis, the Brummbär mounted a powerful 15cm StuH 43 howitzer in a heavily armored superstructure with up to 100mm of frontal armor. The mid-production version featured improved armor layout and the addition of a ball-mounted MG34 for self-defense. Approximately 306 Brummbärs were produced, serving primarily on the Eastern Front and in Italy where their devastating firepower proved effective against strongpoints and urban fortifications.
