About the "Elefant" Schwerer Jagdpanzer Sd.Kfz.184
The Elefant (originally called Ferdinand) was a German heavy tank destroyer developed in 1943. Built on the chassis of the rejected Porsche Tiger proposal, it mounted the powerful 8.8cm PaK 43/2 gun in a heavily armored casemate. With 200mm of frontal armor, the Elefant was nearly impervious to Allied anti-tank weapons. Though only 91 were built, the Elefant saw combat on the Eastern Front and in Italy, earning a fearsome reputation for its firepower and protection.
