Germany WWII V1 Missile launching position 2 in 1

The V-1 flying bomb was a revolutionary weapon at the time, as it was one of the world’s first long-range guided missiles. It was designed to carry a warhead and fly autonomously to its target using a pulse jet engine. The V-1 was launched from ground-based ramps or aircraft, and once its engine was ignited, it would fly at a relatively low altitude, following a pre-set course towards its target.

The opportunity get back to the old aeronautical science is here, building a scale model of a historic missile like the V-1. It can be a fascinating and educational experience, allowing you to delve into the history and engineering of these iconic weapons. It also provides a tangible way to appreciate the advancements in missile technology over the years. The V-1 rocket had limited accuracy and was primarily used to target cities and industrial areas in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.

It could be launched from ground-based ramps or aircraft. The ground-launched version was placed on launch ramps that pointed in the direction of the target. The aircraft-launched version was carried underneath a bomber aircraft and released over the target area.

The V-1 program was a precursor to more advanced rocket and missile development efforts that emerged after the war, ultimately leading to the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and space exploration vehicles.
